Jay-Z Writes For Rolling Stone, Shares Which Of His Songs Are Classics

Oh Jay-Z. Even if she doesn’t have an album out he finds some kind of way to stay on the blogs, I guess we’re not helping that though since I’m writing about him right now. Anyway, Jay recently sat down and wrote for Rolling Stone magazine about his thoughts on what makes a song a classic. He also decided to tell us which of his songs he considers to be classics:

“A great song doesn’t attempt to be anything — it just is,” he begins, lauding Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” “When you hear a great song, you can think of where you were when you first heard it, the sounds, the smells. It takes the emotions of a moment and holds it for years to come. It transcends time. A great song has all the key elements — melody; emotion; a strong statement that becomes part of the lexicon; and great production.”

And which Jay-Z song is classic?

“Some of my best songs aren’t the biggest ones. A song like ‘Can I Live’ is so full of emotion to me — it was better than ‘Hard Knock Life’ or  ’Empire State of Mind,’ but it lacked that accessibility. Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall album may not have been bigger than Thriller, but the songs had better melodies.”

Lauren London Talks Brief Engagement To Lil Wayne

Well, well, well. Little Ms. Perfect, Lauren London shocked the world (not really the world) when it was announced that she was pregnant from Lil Wayne. No one had ever heard anything about the two being together and all of a sudden she pops up pregnant and by him of all people. What also made things wacky is that Lil Wayne constantly screamed his love for R&B singer Nivea and she along with a groupie were pregnant from Weezy at the same time she was. A. Mess.

Anyway, Lauren has always chosen to keep her relationship with Lil Wayne private, but in an interview with SkinDeep.com, she opens up about the misconceptions about her and their relationship. Check the excerpt:

KC: What is the biggest misperception people have of you? What misperception bothers you most?

LL: That my son is the result of some kind of one night stand or groupie encounter with his father. I struggle with deciding when to answer or ignore the constant speculation about my private life, because I feel like that doesn’t belong to anybody but me.

KC: Do you want to go on to the next question, or clear up the speculation now?

LL: I met Dwayne when I was 15 years old. I’ve known him a very long time, and we were in a relationship that didn’t make it. We tried more than once to revive it, and we were engaged briefly years ago, but we eventually parted ways. People see the “Lil’ Wayne” persona and think they know who he really is. My son’s father is an intelligent, loving and lovable person who will always be a dear friend. That is all.

KC: If you don’t mind another personal question, there is a lot of talk about how well the mothers of his children get along. What’s the real deal?

LL: We are all good-hearted women who love our children and we want them to know each other. Real friendships have grown from that foundation and the result has been more love, less drama and less trauma for our kids.

Well I’m glad she cleared that up.  I didn’t think their son was a result of a one night stand, but I did think it was something close to it. Oh well, check out the rest of the interview over at SkinDeep.

Benefits Of Top Social Networking Sites

Benefits of Top Social Media Outlets

Benefits of Top Social Media Outlets

When you hear the term “Social networking”, there are some websites that may immediately come to mind. Although there are hundreds of social media, social bookmarking and social networking websites out there, the top social networking sites dominate a much larger part of the internet than all the others combined. Here is a brief look at some of the top social networking sites and what they offer to their users.

MySpace – MySpace, available at http://www.myspace.com is the first website that comes to mind when the term “social networking” is brought up. MySpace is one of the original social networking websites, and it has an enormous base of users, making it one of the top social networking sites. MySpace connects users who share interest in music, books, television shows, videos, pictures and profiles. Users can maintain a list of friends, a gallery of images, a personal profile, and comments and other forms of communication in order to network, and keep in touch with people all over the world.

Although MySpace is looked upon as a networking site for young people, more than one internet business has come from this heavily trafficked web site. It’s one of those places where it’s imperative to stay within the terms of service of the site. However, with a little thinking out of the box, you can take advantage of the marketing opportunities presented by MySpace.

How about another one of the top social networking sites; Twitter – Another popular social networking medium that is conjured when social networking is mentioned, Twitter (http://www.twitter.com) brings about a completely unique form of networking called micro-blogging. Micro-blogging involves creating updates in micro-format. Subscribers to your Twitter feed can keep up with your micro blogging updates throughout the day much in the same way that they would with an RSS feed or a standard blog, only the micro format makes writing in a Twitter account much easier than other forms of blogging and social networking. Twitter even allows for mobile updating, so you can update your followers on your status from anywhere, no matter where you are.

You will find that Twitter can be an internet marketer’s dream. Yes! Like MySpace and the other networking social sites it takes a little thinking to take advantage of every marketing opportunity presented there. The really great thing about it is these people that follow you and you follow are very targeted potential customers for you.

In addition to Twitter and MySpace as the top social networking sites it’s impossible not to think of the following three to use for your internet marketing:

Facebook – Facebook (http://www.facebook.com), like MySpace, is a large scale social networking site that is known for providing many different avenues for communication and community facilitation. Facebook offers a lot of unique applications and games that make networking even more enjoyable among friends, business associates, colleagues and family members, making Facebook one of the top social networking sites online to date.

Livejournal – Livejournal, found at http://www.livejournal.com, is a blogging platform social networking site, which means that the community and communication facilitated is all based around blogging. Each user has a blog account, and users can join communities and leave comments in other blogs or journals in order to network with users from all over the world.

Flickr – Flickr, which you will find at http://www.flickr.com, is a unique form of social networking because it revolves around photo sharing. Users create accounts and fill them with their favorite photos, and other users can leave comments. Flickr photos can be commented on, tagged, edited and shared, facilitating communication and networking purely through photography.

Digg – Digg, found at http://www.digg.com, is another unique form of social networking that revolves around sharing media and news with other users in the community. Digg focuses on allowing users to unveil news and other media, allowing other members to comment and rate the media based on popularity. The more users “Digg” a certain piece of media or news, the more popular it will become within the community!

These top social networking sites are not the only ones on the Internet. But if you’re looking for a way to market yourself and your products they make a great tool and the price is just right; 0

Chris Bosh Sues His Baby Mama, Allison

Well, I see that Chris Bosh has taken notes from fellow basketball player Dwight Howard, because he is suing his baby mama so she won’t be able to ”enrich” herself by using his image.

Chris’ baby mama Allison was rumored to be appearing on the new season of Basketball Not So Wives, but Hoodrats, however, Chris said hold your horses tramp.

The Associated Press reports:

Miami Heat star Chris Bosh is suing the mother of his child for appearing on a reality TV show called “Basketball Wives,” which he said intrudes on his private life. Bosh claimed in a lawsuit filed Monday in Los Angeles federal court that Allison Mathis and Shed Media are trying to unjustly enrich themselves by using Bosh’s name and intruding into his private affairs.

He acknowledges he and Mathis have a child together. The suit said Mathis was hired to appear in the third season of the VH1 reality show and wants to use it to become a TV star.

He seeks damages and an injunction to block her and the media company from trademark infringement by using his name and disclosing private facts about his life.

Looks like she’ll be pulling a Royce if she does appear on the show. But how is she going to play into the show? At least Royce could say she used to be a dancer…yea…Anyway, this may explain why Bosh hasn’t been his best on the court. Um, sweety, we’re in the playoffs. Let this bird have her 5 minutes of fame. Us Heat fans want another championship in our city. Step your cookies up Chris!

Jennifer & Pitbull Perform On American Idol [Video]

Jennifer Lopez took a break from the judge’s table to hit the stage. Jenny from the block performed her hit single ‘On The Floor’ with my hometown homie Pitbull on American Idol last night. I can’t even lie, Jenny killed it. Guess she  had to show the kiddies how it’s done.

New Video: Nicki Minaj – Super Bass

After a few delays, Nicki Minaj has released the video for ‘Super Bass’. The song was made famous when Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were taped rapping along with the song. The video is cute. Very colorful and it features lots of eye candy for the ladies. Oh and Nicki throws some dance moves in there as well, something she should never do again :)

Tia Mowry Shows Off Her Baby Bump, Naked!

The Game actress Tia Mowry and husband Cory Hardict are expecting a little boy in July, so it’s only right that she take a nude pregnancy picture. But don’t wory, Mrs. Hardict did it tastefully and she also talked about her pregnancy with PEOPLE magazine:

On feeling sexy:

“I know that there are people out there who say that there is nothing sexy about being pregnant, then there are some people who embrace the sexuality. I feel empowered; I feel sexy.”

On her lack of sleep & counting:

“I have sciatica so I’ve gotten those pregnancy pillows. That doesn’t seem to be working for me.”

“They say that the baby should kick 10 times every two hours,” says the nervous mom-to-be. “I’m obsessed with counting how many times the baby’s kicking. So around one o’clock in the morning I’m counting in my head, not sleeping!”

You will be able to see the birth of Tia’s baby as well as her sister Tamera‘s wedding, when their new show Tia & Tamera Take 2 premiere’s later this summer on the Style Network.

Heart Disease Almost Killed My Mom

So basically I got a scare of a lifetime on Monday. I woke up on Monday bright and early getting my regular routine down: checking websites, checking in on progress from web developers and business partners across the globe. Then, my mother told me her chest was hurting. She occasionally says she doesn’t feel well, normally for sympathy sometimes (not always lol), but today was different she was stuck stiff in one position, I could tell something was wrong.

Now normally my mother is stubborn and doesn’t like to go to the hospital but today I didn’t have to ask to much and after about 10 minutes she agreed to go. So, we got her dressed and into the car, to the hospital we went. Upon arriving they got her in the back pretty quickly, but my day was only about to begin and it was only 9 am.

Nurses saw her in a matter of minutes, they took a couple tests, EKG and took some chest x-rays, but things didn’t look too bad. The doctor came in and asked a few questions about her medical history. The only noticeable thing they could observe was that her blood pressure kept bouncing up and down up and down up and down. Fast forward a few hours, at about 1 o’clock they decided to admit her for further observation.

We made it to the 3rd floor of the hospital at about 3 o’clock. I could tell this was going to take a turn for the worst because when we arrived in the room, the pillow on her bed was dirty, didn’t look like people got much attention on this floor, looked just like a holding tank for sick people or for sick people who are ready to go home. They didn’t hook her up to any monitor, all she had was a box that recorded the heart rhythm and oxygen, which she didn’t really need.

I asked her was she doing any better, she said, a little bit, at this time it was 3:30 pm probably close to 4 pm. She told me well since I am in here you go home and get some rest and do some other things. I didn’t want to go at first but then I said okay. I knew around this time or a little later one of my brothers would probably come up and check in on her.

She told me she was doing a little better, but still felt some pain, but she insisted that I go home. So, I left her for a little while and called here over the phone at about 6:20 to see how she was doing. We were laughing and joking on the phone, she was already complaining about how uncomfortable things were, how bad the food was etc. We laughed like we normally do, she is a very sarcastic lady, hilarious. So, a nurse came in and she said she would call me back.

Well…need I say I never got the call back from her, but it was a call from my brother that almost gave me a heart attack. The phone rang and my brother U told me “you need to get up here, they found mom on the floor unresponsive and they are working on her now.”

My pulse must have accelerated, panic set in. Grab the shoes first, pray, run out of the door, what to tell the kids (I was babysitting my niece and nephew ages 11 and 9) I didn’t really know what to do first and in what order. I don’t even think I could pray myself or even how to do it, with my nerves getting to me. I called my pastor, who answered the phone on probably the last ring, I told her what was going on and she prayed with me, while I was putting on my shoes, afterward I ran out the door while trying to say as calmly as possible “hey kids I’m going to the hospital to check on grandma again, be good I’ll be back soon.” I had no idea when I would be back or how that night would turn out, but after a little prayer, it calmed me a bit.

Went to the hospital and my brother met me downstairs, he was going to retrieve something in his car at the time. And he said she was stable, but they were still working on her and about to move her to ICU, the doctors were talking to her and she knew her name and so forth.

I could tell my brother was a little shaky, just thinking about it. He informed me, that when he and his wife made it to the floor, they asked him who they were there to see and immediately the nurses started yelling “stay right there, stay right there, you need to go into the waiting room.” He knew something was wrong and all the nurses were running back to her room. Basically she went into cardiac arrest and they only knew it because they heard her fall. About 3 shocks where given to jump-start her heart again, after having 0 pulse.

20 people I must have spoken to over the phone that night, informing my aunts and uncles, my mothers brothers and sisters, what had happened.

Ironically, this all took place only 1 hour after I talked to her over the phone.

By 9 o’clock they had a catheter inside her heart with dye so that they could figure out what was going on. Long story short, basically her main artery was blocked, the one going down the front of the heart. She wasn’t getting any blood through, she had an irregular heart beat as well. The doctor said she was lucky to be alive. People who have irregular heart beats don’t normally respond well to the shocks from the fibrillator. Stents were placed in the heart to open up the artery in the heart.

There were about 15 people at the hospital there supporting her, a lot of her church members came to pray with us and all of my siblings and my aunt G, cousin G and uncle C.

Things went well after she got revived.

Which makes me ask the question, “Do we have to be half dead in order to get proper assistance in this American Health System we have?”

I find it hard to believe that we were in the hospital 8 hours before she had a heart attack, why couldn’t they find out what was wrong sooner? I keep asking myself this question. I may never know the answer to it, but at least I have my mother here with me and that is enough for me.

Moving forward, there is a lot to be thankful for as well as aware of.

Heart disease the number one killer of women in America. I think I have enough motivation now to lose weight, eat healthier and live a more active life.

Not like I shouldn’t have been more conscious a long time ago, but we all know there comes a time in life where we become more aware of other people’s feelings, our feelings, what we like, what we don’t like, our purpose in life; its a process and if this had to happen for me to take things more serious, I emphasis more here, then so be it… done. I learned what I had to learn….THANK GOD FOR THE TEST. I think I almost failed it, but at least I can go back and look at the score sheet and figure out where I went wrong, it was only a test, but not the Final Exam!

Update on Mom:

My mom is doing much better now, still in the hospital trying to get some rest. She had so many visitors the nurses were getting mad. But she is still resting, trying to recuperate, still on cloud nine because of some of the medication. Trying to talk to someone high on Vikatan is like talking to a newborn baby…they get going in and out of sleep lol its funny to see. She’s doing good just trying to rest.

I want to thank all of you, friends, family and church family who supported myself, my mom and my family this week with prayer, with your presence and with your love. We won’t forget it.

Regards,

“I’m the connoisseur of all things me!”
