Twitter VS. Facebook
Who wins in this duel to the death of social media websites? Well, I love Facebook and I can’t get enough of it. Its nothing like logging in and chatting with friends who I haven’t seen in years or browsing through everyone’s photographs. But, there is one thing I LOVE about Twitter and that is, it encourages interaction among people who you do not know. If you don’t know someone on Facebook, it can be extremely difficult to interact with them. Either people send you messages like “How do I know You?” If you attempt to add them as a friend, or they outright ignore your requests.
But, with Twitter, you can follow whoever you want. It is up to them to follow you back, but there are an occasional person or two who actually manually except their follow requests, but the vast majority of people will allow you to follow them without any further action.
For business in particular, this feature is the most important. How do you get new clients or prospects if you can’t interact with them. Facebook has gone to the extreme to “protect” people, making sure no one can thoroughly used their services for marketing but Facebook, that it has become difficult to have a regular page and properly promote.
Following more people quickly is the number one reason I enjoy Twitter more than Facebook, it opens more doors a lot faster than Facebook.
I often use http://search.twitter.com to follow people in different niche markets or people who I feel will be willing to network with me. It is probably one of the best tools out there to use to find other like minded people. I still love Facebook but Twitter is best when it comes to marketing to a given target audience in the less amount of time.
